Ah, that explains it. That's how they manage to lure people to their house. You meet one of them when the other's not present and you think "Hey, this is a normal, fun person." so you go to their house and you see the two together and suddenly all the colour is drained from the world, and you leave dazed, a mere shell of your former self.
