Mr. Wilson has been summoned for jury duty, and although this would normally be aggravating to him as it would mean him giving up his day and whatever plans he had for it, it turns out that in this case the day he has been summoned is one on which his wife had agreed that they would babysit Dennis, and as Mr. Wilson has an intense dislike of Dennis he is glad of the opportunity to avoid his company. For this reason, he is smiling.
